Perception of prosodic social affect in Japanese by American learners of Japanese

Résumé

This study proposes (1) to investigate the variability of L1 American listeners' perceptual behaviors on 16 Japanese prosodic affective expressions using the free-labeling approach. A comparison with Japanese native listeners is also introduced in order (2) to identify the difference of perceptual differences between L1 and L2 listeners.
